USAID Research and Innovation Fellowships

The USAID Research and Innovation Fellowships program is part of a global network organized by USAID in collaboration with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). The program places high caliber early-career researchers and innovators in a variety of fields ranging from sociology to biology to computing to physical science. Fellows spend 2-12 months with host institutions in seven countries, including Indonesia, fulfilling the specific needs of host institutions, research centers, universities, NGOs, government ministries, etc. (see the RI Fellowships catalog of opportunities from last year).

Over the first year of the RI Fellowships program, 59 Fellows were placed globally, with 2 Fellows partnered with organizations in Indonesia. Next year, the RI Fellowships program plans to expand the number of Fellows placed in Indonesia and shift program focus to a areas of critical importance including:

  • Strengthening democratic governance
  • Improving essential human services for the poorest and most vulnerable
  • Advancing global development priorities of mutual interest, including:

- Biodiversity
- Climate Change
- Infectious Disease
- Renewable Energy
- Higher Education and Workforce Development

  • Increasing collaborative achievement in science, technology, and innovation.

In order to craft the catalog of opportunities for the second round of the program, the RI Fellowships program has asked for recommendations on potential host institutions or specific hosts. Hosts have a unique opportunity to engage in research collaborations with U.S. counterparts in similar fields. Hosts not only gain the knowledge and research skills of their respective counterpart, but Fellows also connect hosts to a wide network of prestigious U.S. institutions. In order to qualify, the sponsoring host must submit opportunities to participate in a research project with defined development impacts and tangible, measurable goals.

If you have suggestions for host organizations that would be well served by a Research and Innovation Fellow please have them submit an opportunity at http://tinyurl.com/hostoppor contact the Research and Innovation Fellowships Program directly at Alamat email ini dilindungi dari robot spam.
